Company:
Tran Engineering & Consultancy
Pte. Ltd.

Position:
Project Engineer

Work summary:
TREC functioned as subcontractor for our Belgian partner (Drever International S.A.) as steel factory drafters, and for our Japanese partner (SEA - SMERT) in ship piping design.
Work trip to Japan
I was selected to meet and work with a client directly at SEA - SMERT's office in Japan for a project under tight deadlines, and also to represent the company at "Marine software solution in Sasebo 2019", an international seminar for Cadmatic organised by our partner, attended by Cadmatic representatives and many industry players.

Ballast water management system:
After under going training on ballasting systems and software usage for over a month, I was involved in a project as a design engineer under the supervision of our top leader.

Within 2 months, I was promoted to project engineer and leader-in-training overseeing the completion of other ship ballast water projects.

The software used is called Cadmatic, where I drafted the pipelines in 3D and exported them to technical 2D drawings to be submitted to our clients on pre-set deadlines.

Since becoming project engineer, I was less involved in the design and routing of the pipes, but was more focused on supervising, checking and ensuring other engineers' works met the standards of our clients. I even drafted a guideline document to help my teams follow and meet the standards more easily while they were working on the design, even before my 1st check.

The following is a short demo of the software and the workflow.
